Bosty decided to escape the cold, spring weather in DC and head off to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Bosty-goes-to-Charlotte-02

He caught some rays of sunshine while strolling around the city.

And really enjoyed taking a moment to take in that skyline.

He liked looking at the architecture and buildings from afar so much that he insisted we get up-close to a few of them.

Before heading back to the cold city up north, he had a chance to play with Maddie the French Bulldog. Or was he just keeping an eye on her?

Anyway, after the trip Bosty insisted we should visit more warmer places. So maybe we’ll do just that relatively soon…

Bosty goes to Phoenix, AZ

Bosty has been spending a lot of time in Arizona these days. He figures D.C. weather gets too cold this time of year, so it’s nice to take a trip to a warmer climate.

We wound up in Phoenix, Arizona – and since Phoenix is so close to Scottsdale, we made sure to stop by Old Town Scottsdale.

When we walked by the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Bosty insisted we go inside. “You are an artist…you should look at some art!”

He was really excited about James Turrell’s Knight Rise public art exhibit. “Look at those colors!”

The exhibit had a beautiful walkway. Bosty just had to get his picture taken all around the art display….

Including a room that had an oval cut out in the ceiling so you could gaze at that inredibly blue Arizona sky.

After spending plenty of time staring at art, we were off on another walk around town. I wonder where we’ll end up next?

Bosty goes to Flagstaff, AZ

Bosty decided to start the day off in Flagstaff, Arizona by getting a cup of mocha from Macy’s European Coffeehouse.

He liked people watching out the window while sipping his coffee.

Next we did some wandering around the area, and did a little window shopping.

Bosty was anxious to see more of Mother Nature, so we hiked a few trails to take a look at the aspens.

The aspens sure looked beautiful all dressed up in yellow.

Before long, it was getting late and the sun began to set. Bosty liked staring at the Arizona sunset – so colorful!

It was another day full of activity. Bosty isn’t ready to leave the area just yet – he has some ideas of other cities to visit out west.

Bosty goes to the Grand Canyon

Bosty decided to head over to visit the Grand Canyon. “My oh my,” Bosty said, “that sure looks grand!”

He strolled around to take a look at the canyon from different angles. He also liked the interesting trees and shrubs that were growing alongside the pathways.

There were some red rocks in the area that reminded him of his Sedona, Arizona trip.

And wow, look at that tree! An interesting silhouette against the Arizona sky.

Bosty was having so much fun that before he knew it, it started to get late. The sun began to set and he enjoyed taking in the views at dusk.

He was also impressed by the wild clouds in the sky. Before long, it was nighttime. Bosty decided that the Grand Canyon was so much fun that he’d have to stay in Arizona a little longer to explore some other sights.

Bosty goes to Sedona, AZ

Bosty decided to hop on a plane and head over to Arizona to warm up – Washington, DC has been getting pretty chilly these days. His first stop was Sedona, Arizona. He’s heard a lot about the beautiful red rocks there.

He decided to go on a Pink Jeep Tour. Whenever Bosty plays the role of a tourist, he wants to do it right.

And touring the area was definitely a highlight. Bosty couldn’t get enough of the beautiful red rock views. “Look at this one!”

“Ohhh, look at this one too!”

The sky was so blue that day – blue and beautiful. The day went by pretty quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to hit the road again. Bosty has quite a few ideas of other places he’d like to see in area.

Bosty goes to Mexico

Bosty was getting tired of the daily grind in DC, so he decided to spend a long weekend in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Enjoying the sun on a beach resort? Don’t mind if I do!

He liked taking advantage of room service on the resort. His favorite dish was pretty healthy – a fruit platter.

After snacking, Bosty would go for a quick walk along the beach. Sometimes he would sprawl out on one of the beach chairs and sun bathe.

He loved all the palm trees and the beautiful landscape. We lucked out and had some great weather – so we could take advantage of admiring our surroundings.

When Bosty wasn’t in the mood for sun bathing or strolling down the beach, he did some cloud watching. What do those clouds in the distance look like to you, Bosty?

After our stay, he was disappointed about leaving paradise. But don’t worry Bosty, we’ll have another great adventure sometime soon.

Bosty goes to Chicago (Again!)

It’s been a while since Bosty traveled to Chicago, so he thought another visit was long overdue. Time to take in the sights and take plenty of pictures of that Chicago skyline!

He started the day off by getting one of the Divvy city bike shares so he could bike around the city.

And take a look at some of the area’s art, like the print of Julie Murphy’s Bunny Snail featured on a street station sign.

He especially liked Steinunn Thorarinsdottir’s “Borders” sculptures. Looks like he was trying to get between these two.

After wandering around the city for a couple of hours, he decided to take a break and savor some local food. We stopped by Eleven City Diner for a quick lunch.

Bosty just had to order a pastrami and corned beef sandwich. How about a nice towering sandwich for lunch? Don’t mind if I do!

Once we finished our delicious lunch, we headed to the convention center so Bosty could enjoy the wonders of being part of the Comic Expo. He even had his Darth Vader mask handy to wear for the occasion. He liked playing doggy Darth Vader for a while.

All the excitement from the convention center, seeing lots of other comic costumes, made Bosty work up another appetite. So we stopped by Blackbird for some arctic char.

Next up, we did some more city wandering. Bosty loved checking out the street art. He was amused by this wall art that featured a man with a nervous look on his face while trying to catch pigeons with a net.

To complete our day of walking, we checked out the Chicago Riverwalk.

And spent some time strolling around the various parks. Bosty pointed out these colorful signs sponsored by the Morton Arboretum. Thanks Morton Arboretum for reminding us that trees surround us in beauty!

Bosty was pretty excited about our dinner plans. He felt like one incredibly cultured doggy after experiencing the fine dining cuisine at Alinea. His favorite dish was the dessert they prepped right on the table.

With a full belly, we made our way to Buddy Guy’s Legends for some live blues music. Bosty felt like we had one incredible Chicago experience. Although, he had to point out, we made a big mistake by not having any Chicago dogs or deep dish pizza.

Don’t worry Bosty, we’ll do that the next time we visit.

Bosty goes to Boston

bosty-boston-1

Bosty finally got to go to Boston this weekend. Being a Boston Terrier and all, he’s always wanted to visit Beantown. His first stop was the Public Garden.

bosty-boston-2

It was a perfect day to stroll in the park.

bosty-boston-3

How about a ride on one of the swan paddle boats? Bosty thought that sounded like a good idea.

bosty-boston-4

He even met a feathered friend by the water. “Hey Mrs. Duck!”

bosty-boston-5

After a while we took a break in the shade under a nearby tree. Bosty liked staring out at the water and counting the ducks.

bosty-boston-6

He started to get hungry so we stopped by the Butcher Shop for lunch. Bosty is quite the foodie and enjoyed having some charcuterie with fresh bread.

bosty-boston-7

He also loved the tomato soup he ordered. He said it almost looked too pretty to eat. But then he did eat it.

bosty-boston-8

Then he completed his meal with a nice, big burger. Yum.

bosty-boston-9

But then he also ordered a latte to help him wake-up for some more Boston-city-touring.

bosty-boston-10

Next we headed over to see Frank Gehry’s Ray and Maria Stata Center. Bosty sure loves great architecture.

bosty-boston-11

He liked Gehry’s building so much that he got closer to it for a better look.

bosty-boston-12

He also liked all the murals he found when wandering down the neighborhood streets.

bosty-boston-13

And he decided his day wouldn’t be complete until he popped into Newbury Comics to browse and maybe do some shopping. Bosty is a pretty big fan of comics and superheroes.

bosty-boston-14

Bosty started having another food craving – although this time he wanted some late afternoon sweets. So we stopped by Puritan and Company so he could get a sugar fix – a nicely presented sugar fix.

bosty-boston-15

Then off to stroll around the streets during a beautiful, sunny Boston day.

Bosty goes to New Orleans

bosty-new-orleans-01

It’s been a while since Bosty’s last trip, so he decided to head south before it gets too hot. Bosty isn’t a fan of hot, humid summers.

The first thing he did when he arrived, was visit the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Actually, he really wanted to go restaurant hopping to eat lots of southern dishes – but I told him we had to make a few museum stops first.

bosty-new-orleans-02

So up next we visited by the National WWII Museum to get a history lesson.

bosty-new-orleans-03

Then we walked around before grabbing a bite to eat. We admired all the murals on different buildings.

bosty-new-orleans-04

Bosty really liked the banners on all the lamp posts. Especially the ones that told bikers to watch out for open car doors. He really appreciates safety signage.

bosty-new-orleans-05

Finally we made it to a restaurant in the Garden District for dinner. Bosty decided to have chicken. I was surprised he didn’t order gumbo or a po’ boy.

bosty-new-orleans-06

After dinner we wandered down a few streets in the Garden District and admired the brightly colored homes with high windows and large front porches. All-in-all, Bosty was very satisfied with yet another day out and about in a different city.

Bosty goes to Charleston, SC

Bosty decided to head down south to Charleston, South Carolina. Apparently D.C. summers aren’t hot enough for him.

Bosty goes to Charleston by Megan Coyle

He wanted his picture taken by some of the area’s landmarks. Oh no – no lifeguard on duty? Oh well, Bosty decided to go ahead and wade at his own risk…

After some fountain wading, he strolled along the pathways by the water.

Occasionally ducking out of the heat for a moment by cooling off in the shaded areas.

He liked admiring the flowers and beautiful views of the water.

Towards the end of the day, he decided to treat himself to some ice cream. “Giant cone of gelato? Don’t mind if I do!”

Before he ended his day-long excursion of wandering ’round the city, he stopped by the famous City Market in Charleston. Bosty couldn’t believe how big the market was! He hoped to find all sorts of doggy treats there.
