Bosty goes to NYC (Again!)

Bosty-goes-to-NYC-01

Bosty decided to visit New York City again to get a better look at all the city lights. He also wanted to ride the subway more and do some serious people-watching.

The spring weather outside was beautiful so he decided to check out High Line park…

And take a look at all the unusual sculptures and plant-life.

Next up he wanted to see the flowers in full bloom at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

They really were in full bloom!

Then he stopped by the Brooklyn museum for some culture for the day.

Bosty started getting hungry so he headed off to Smorgasburg in Williamsburg for a quick bite to eat.

He actually had quite a bit to eat, so it wasn’t exactly a “quick” bite. But he did have a chance to have a picnic by the water with his tasty treats.

He wandered all the way to Chelsea to check out Chelsea Market. Perhaps it’s dessert time?

But Bosty decided to pick up a few New York souvenirs at the Artists & Fleas shop.

To end his incredibly busy day, he headed over to Central Park for a stroll.

It’s been fun, New York – we’ll have to do this again sometime!

New Book: Contemporary Wildlife Art

Contemporary Wildlife Art

Contemporary Wildlife Art

I’m excited to announce that a new book is out that features images of my animal collages – Contemporary Wildlife Art by Cindy Ann Coldiron. This is the second book by Cindy Ann Coldiron that features my work, and I’m happy to be part of another curated collection by this local artist.

You can now order the book on Amazon. And you can also check out more art books that feature my collages on the store section of my website.

I decided to have a little more fun with these animal collages by making more of an action piece. I was trying to make a collage of a jumping frog, but realized he looked like he was dancing instead.

This collage was inspired by a few photos that I took while on a trip to NYC. Sometimes I like to snap pictures of dogs that are being walked in the area, and on this particular trip, some of those photos included pictures of a little terrier. Once I got to work on this piece, I realized that the coloring of the dog’s fur, as well as his face, reminded me an awful lot of an Ewok. Hence the title for this piece.

The Daydreaming Fish

I always feel like fish are lost in a daydream, just swimming or floating around in the water in a daze. I don’t blame them though, the underwater world looks so much like a dream, so unreal and an entirely different world.

Bosty goes to Charlotte, NC

Bosty-goes-to-Charlotte-01

Bosty decided to escape the cold, spring weather in DC and head off to Charlotte, North Carolina.

He caught some rays of sunshine while strolling around the city.

And really enjoyed taking a moment to take in that skyline.

He liked looking at the architecture and buildings from afar so much that he insisted we get up-close to a few of them.

Before heading back to the cold city up north, he had a chance to play with Maddie the French Bulldog. Or was he just keeping an eye on her?

Anyway, after the trip Bosty insisted we should visit more warmer places. So maybe we’ll do just that relatively soon…

I’m losing count of how many times I’ve collaged the Washington Monument. It seems like when you live in the DC area, you can’t get enough of the cityscape scenes. Anyway, here it is yet again – but this time in pastel colors.

I put together this collage yesterday when I decided to film another time-lapse video. This guy turned out to be more of a character sketch. The video also shows how sometimes these collages are a struggle. I’m not sure how I feel about this piece, however, sometimes you just have to put aside your paper and scissors and say enough is enough – “I’m done!” Who knows, he may have inspired me to make a few different critter pieces…

Coffee Time

I was inspired by the cold weather we’ve been getting lately to make a collage of my favorite beverage – coffee. It’s a subject I don’t mind revisiting over and over again. I think I might try to explore collaging some of my favorite foods as well.

I recently put my studio work on hold as I worked on making my portfolio website mobile-friendly. Now I’m trying to get back into the groove of things with my artwork. This small cityscape piece is my latest collage. I think I’ll work on a few still life pieces next.
