And here’s the finished piece. You’ll notice that it looks much different than the last progress picture. My client supplied me with a low res photograph taken with a cell phone camera. After a bit of dialogue back and forth between us, the portrait began to change bit by bit as I merged elements from other photographs that the client sent. Eventually, this was the result.
Anyway, I’m off to continue working on another commission – when it rains, it does indeed pour. And sometimes I wish I could clone myself so I could work on all the projects that are on my “to do” list.
This looks great!! You did a great job. I wish I could clone myself too.
Very good! I love the depth to his face!
This is a very attractive portrait … great work.
The skin tones and expression on his face are so lovely!
Funny story…. You’ve inspired me to try more and more collage with my students this year and my 5th graders are finishing up self portrait collages. One of my little perfectionists was having a hard time finding good skin colors. I found this largish picture of Paula Deen (YUM good food) that she could use and she complained “I don’t want Paula Deen’s skin in my picture, she’s old.”
hehe! Do you ever have such dilemmas? Probably not. Happy Friday 🙂
Good gravy–wow! That is a wonderful portrait. I like the mischief in his eyes. lol Lovely, Megan!
Fantastic! Jump up and down amazing! Your client must have been ecstatic. And Karim’s father must have been doubly so. I found it fascinating that you start with a full sketch that is beautifully rendered with shadow and contour. All that base work leads to an incredible finish!
